Even the toughest impact wrenches can struggle with some heavy-duty applications, but the DCF961 can manage them. For instance, when tackling really stubborn fasteners, after four seconds of impacting this tool automatically increases power to loosen them with ease. With such high levels of torque you could be forgiven for being concerned about overtightening and fastener run-off. The DCF961 avoids this problem with DEWALT’s precision wrench mode. Selectable via the foot of the tool, this allows the impact wrench to sense when the fastener is seated and then automatically, but briefly, pause power. This gives you a window to release the trigger before overtightening occurs.

As well as providing impressive power with features that assist fastening and un-fastening applications, the DCF961 has features to make it easier to use. The handle is ergonomically designed to fit in the hand and has a rubber XR grip to make it comfortable to use, even over extended operation. The DCF961 can even be used in darker areas, such as under vehicles or outside in the evening, thanks to its bright LED work light which illuminates the working area.

A final highlight to mention is the brushless motor which enhances the performance and longevity of the tool. But as an added bonus DEWALT have fitted the DCF961 with their Battery Guard technology which provides a shock absorbing battery-to-tool connection. This not only reduces wear and tear on the battery but also ensures a more consistent connection between the tool and the battery. This model is a bare unit.
